Manassa Turquoise Necklace

$475.00

Vintage and unique.  As deep as an emerald sea.

The centerpiece of this Manassa Turquoise Necklace is a deep green Manassa Turquoise cabochon.  This  one-of-a-kind and striking necklace is detailed with tiny effervescent bubbles and swimming sea turtles.  It is then patinated to bring out the details and give the entire piece a rustic, old-world look.

Details:

  • Sterling and fine silver
  • 1-3/4" wide by 1" long.
  • The chain is a little over 20" and has a sterling silver lobster clasp.

This beautiful necklace is a collector's item, as this type of turquoise is no longer being mined, and it would make a wonderful addition to a collection of jewelry to be handed down through generations.

Gemstone information:

Manassa Turquoise was mined near the town of Manassa in Colorado, an area that had been mined by Native Americans for centuries.  In the 1890s, the mine was rediscovered by I.P. King and was originally called the Lick Skillet Mine.  It later became known as the King Turquoise mine.  The mine produced a range of colors from blue-green to deep green with the golden-brown matrix and host rock as seen in this particular stone.  A family-owned mine passed down from I.P. King, it is no longer being actively mined.
