Chrysocolla Bolo Tie
Bolos are back in style, and these not your grandpa’s bolos! They can be paired traditionally with a buttoned shirt, T-shirt, or sweater and still be on trend! They look great on women, too!
This bolo tie is set with a beautiful Chrysocolla cabochon. It is set in a fine silver bezel and hand-textured sterling silver back, with fine silver “bubbles” adorning the edges.
It is paired with a 4mm black leather cord and punctuated with 1-1/2” sterling silver tips with 4mm bead at the ends.
The back has a satin texture and is finished off with a handmade sterling silver cord slide that can easily be adjusted for length and tightness.
- Stone and setting: 1-3/4” wide by 1-3/4” long
- Cord length tip to tip: 38”
Chrysocolla is formed when copper minerals are changed by other chemicals. This happens the water containing carbon dioxide seeps through the copper, leeching the various chemicals with it until they gather in cracks and fissures and harden. The basic material is usually mixed up with other minerals such as quartz, chalcedony, malachite, turquoise, and/or azurite. These other minerals are what gives chrysocolla its interesting patterns and multiple colors and makes it a stronger material to be used as a gemstone.
